Cashmere Learn Knitwork The Stumpy Way! Alice …

Alice Seidel When I was a kid, there was a candy bar by the name of ‘Stumpy’. It was cypher more than a solid substantial of cocoa, with some raisins and nuts thrown and twisted in Cashmere And Merino. But, boy was it good! I can’t recall how many nickels I plunked down for one of those on a hot, summertime good afternoon! Cocoa bars aside, if you want to learn knitwork, learn it the ‘stumpy’ way Cashmere And Merino. What do I mean by that? I mean, learn knitwork in minuscule bits and pieces. Learn anything in minuscule bits and pieces, and earlier you know it, you have conditioned a LOT! So when you read a knitwork formula, whether it be a child or a baby formula, or something for your beget or best protagonist, and the formula tells you to work in supporter run up for the first 6 rows, you will know to ‘knit’ all 6 rows Cashmere And Merino. Supporter run up = knit every row. If you knit one row, then purl the next row, then knit, then purl, and keep doing that for the integral formula, you are workings in ‘stockinet’ run up. The word ‘stockinet’ likely comes from an adjustment of ‘stocking-net’, because it means ‘a broadly knitted stretch out material’ Cashmere And Merino. As you knit and purl, your knitwork begins to take on a broadly knitted look Cashmere And Merino. The knit side has a ‘V’ innovation in it, and the purl side has a ‘brickwork’ look. And here’s a newsbreak for you: never, never, never knit a scarf in stockinet run up Cashmere And Merino. Why? Because, it will curl up like yesterday’s gallic fries. And that’s not a good thing! Your scarf will look more like tube than a neck guardian; unless you like tube as a neck guardian Cashmere And Merino. Supporter run up and stockinet run up are the two basic knitwork run upes. Learn these and all the rest are mere variations on that theme. When you knit, often you will come across the words ‘wrong side’ and ‘right side’. The knit side is not always the right side, any more than the purl side is always the wrong side. Sometimes, the knit side is the wrong side, and earlier I start looking too much like Edith Dugout, just take my word for it. In fact, when you purl on the ‘right’ side and knit on the ‘wrong’ side, you are using the rearward stockinet run up. Ordinarily when you are knitwork cable run upes, you will use the purl side as the ‘right’ side of your knitwork; because cables show up much punter on the purl side of your work. The right and wrong sides to your knitwork only refer to which side will be on the alfresco and which side will be on the deep down when your garb is worn. You see, it’s minuscule bits and pieces like these, that make you a good knitter; not always wise what the newest yarn is all about, or should you buy those well-lighted knitwork goads? Some other stumpy bit is the word ‘knitwise’, and no it doesn’t refer to anyone’s brain power. Knitwise means to slip the run up from the left goad to the right goad as if you were knitwork it; but you are slithering it. Purlwise means to slip the run up as if you were purling it. If you are not slithering the run up, only tucking the goad in cooking to something else, then tuck the goad knitwise. Or purlwise, if that’s what the formula calls for. So, you see, if you learn terms, a minuscule at a time, then you will never be inquisitive what something means, when you come across it, in your knitwork. You will know what it means. And, as you go, you add to your expertness! As time goes by, I will add extra articles on gloss terms, and lots and lots of other run upes and knitwork terms. You know what they say, a minuscule noesis goes a long way; well, with us knitters, the more we know the punter! And if we learn knitwork the stumpy way, why, that’s about as good as feeding that cocoa bar!

Ideas & Articles Fantastic Rub-On Transfers From Stuff Around The House! Get ready to have a blast making custom rub-on transfers. We spent hours researching the best way to make smudge free, rub-on transfers that could be used in scrapbooking and rubber Stamping craft projects. We had a wonderful time using computer fonts to create titles for scrapbook pages as well as unique rub-on embellishments for our homemade cards. This fast, inexpensive technique can be used to make some incredibly wonderful designs for your next project! Supplies: 1 Copier Transparency Fine Mist Hair Gel (LA Works Mega Hold) Hairspray Hair Dryer Ink Jet Printer Instructions: Step 1: Spray the fine mist hair gel on the transparency. Holding the film a few inches from a mirror allows you to see if you have a good even coverage over the film. Only spray enough to cover the film completely. You don’t want the gel to “run” down the page, yet you need enough gel to cover all areas of the film Step 2: Using the hair dryer, dry the gel to the transparency. It should only take between 20-45 seconds if you placed the correct amount of gel on the film. Step 3: Prepare your artwork using any number of design or word processing programs. You can also stamp the images on the film with dye or pigment based inks. *Important: The design or image will need to be reversed. You can flip the image in your desired program or complete the image mirror in the printing step. Step 4: Set your printer to the “T-shirt Transfer” mode or select “Mirror Image” in your printer options. (Refer to the manual that came with your printer for assistance.) If you already flipped the image in your design software or word processor, you can skip this step. Step 5: Print your image on a normal print setting. This should provide enough ink to make a wonderful transfer while making sure the ink does not run. You may need to experiment a few times to get the right setting. *NOTE: Only print exactly what you desire to rub-on and not excess images. You will be able to use the transparency many times. Step 6: Allow the ink to dry in place. You can speed the drying process with a hair dryer, but be careful not to blow the ink out of place. Place your image flat on a surface and spray with a light coat of hairspray. Using the hair dryer, dry the hairspray in place. Step 7: Gently lay the rub-on onto the artwork. (Practice first!) Using a spoon, rub the image in place. Make sure to rub the entire area thoroughly to release the image. Gently peel away.
